About Us
Welcome to T.W. Reiss, Inc.
History of T.W. Reiss, Inc.
Having worked for Wards Rents for 23 years, John Ward decided to sell the business in 1999 to a large corporate chain. We all tried working for this company, but all found that the corporate life was not for us. They strictly wanted to rent equipment and do away with sales and service. I could not turn away repair work on equipment we had sold to long term customers, so I was taking equipment home with me for repair. Six months had gone by. One day I was having lunch with Bill Campbell, who owned Vansant's Power Equipment, right across the parking lot. He had expressed interest in selling the business. After much consideration, my wife and I decided that we couldn’t pass on this opportunity. We worked out an agreement to purchase his business. In March of 2000 T.W. Reiss, Inc. was formed, consisting of myself, my wife, Deb, and Mike D’ambrosia, a mechanic from Wards Rents. We started out merging the sales lines that Vansant's had, as well as the sales lines that Wards Rents had. John Ward had rented us a small shop on the same property, so we moved all of Vansant's sales inventory and did sales and service out of one small building. We soon realized that we needed more room and approached Bill Campbell about renting his store across the parking lot, allowing us to have sales on one side of the parking lot and repairs on the other. It wasn’t long before our oldest son, Andrew, showed an interest in the business and started tagging along as much as he could. We continued to grow, adding employees and reestablishing product lines. In September of 2007 Mike left to pursue his love of motorcycles, leaving myself, our son Andrew, and one mechanic to do repairs through the rest of the year. During that period the mower shop up the road, Richboro Lawn and Garden, had the John Deere line pulled from them, causing them to shut down. The owner, Butch Pletcher, had called me asking if I was interested in some of his parts inventory. We got to talking and I offered him the job of running our service department. With Butch coming on board we continued to grow, adding his customers in with our base. Because of this increase, we needed to hire more employees. So in January of 2011 we welcomed Matt Grady on board for counter and parts sales. His background is in landscape maintenance and construction, having owned his own business, for over 25 years, Grady Brothers Landscaping. He brings experience from the opposite side of the counter with him. In April of 2012 we welcomed Tim U’selis on board for equipment sales and parts. Tim brings with him over 30 years of experience in the power equipment field, having owned his own business, Richter’s Power Equipment. In 2013 Andrew finished school, graduating from Temple University, and came on full time with us. In October of 2012 we moved again into the large warehouse at the rear of the property. This time we purchased the property which meant never having to move again. With this move we had to build a showroom inside of the warehouse, which turned into a major project. We are very proud of how it all turned out and of all that we have accomplished, considering from where we started. In February of 2018 Matt decided to pursue other avenues in order to spend more time with his family. That same month we welcomed Bob Richter, who has been in the power equipment business his entire career. As things would have it Tim had purchased Richter's Power Equipment from Bob's dad and had worked with Bob for many years. In July of 2021 we welcomed Rob Calzarette in the shop, who comes to us with many years experience in the Landscaping and auto parts business. In September of 2021 we welcomed Brian Dugan at the counter, who comes to us with many years experience in the equipment and party rental business and also power equipment business. Not to forget Bill Campbell, who lends a hand wherever needed, and also shows up every day for lunch. We consider ourselves very lucky to have good people.
They are what make us stand out.
